The tech giant has confirmed that the twelfth major instalment of the operating system is dominating 53 per cent of recent devices (those introduced as of September 2014) iPhones and iPads since its release on September 17.
The numbers, when compared to its predecessor iOS 11 , show usage of that version has dropped to 40 per cent. Earlier versions make up the remaining 7 per cent.
At its current rate, iOS 12 should outpace its predecessor by some margin; prior to the update’s availability, Apple stated 85 per cent of all devices were running iOS 11, while iOS 10 had 10 per cent and older versions keeping a 5 per cent share.
