The market has an abundance of gaming smartphones: The Pocophone F1, ROG Phone, Razer Phone 2, and more.
While these phones might have their own special features to help them standout – 120hz display on the Razer Phone 2 and AirTriggers on the ROG Phone – it doesn’t compare to what Samsung is trying to do.
The company filed a patent back in 2017 on a foldable gaming phone. However, the patent came to light just yesterday and was spotted by Let’s Go Digital.
They created 3D renders of how the phone would look like based on the concept designs and information from the patent:
Folding it forms two screens on the front and back. The physical buttons can be hidden away when not in use.
It looks like a really odd way to hold the phone as the game buttons are at the bottom and the screen will extend upwards from the buttons.
That might lead to problems when it comes to long gaming sessions as the device doesn’t look light.
Now before you light your torches and sharpen your pitchforks, let us remind you that this is just a concept. Whether we’ll be seeing this on shelves in the near future is still unknown.
Samsung has already shown off their foldable prototype phone which doesn’t look very appealing. Huawei and Motorola have yet to show theirs.
Xiaomi is the only company that has an appealing take on foldable smartphones. But when exactly will these phones be released? Your guesses are as good as ours.
